Although the name of the UK Data Archive has changed over time, for simplification it will be referred to here as 'the Archive'.

Dear Erwin,

This is simply to confirm the arrangements which we made over the telephone yesterday. Professor Allen Potter and Dr. Farlie will arrive on Wednesday November 23rd by the "Rheingold Express" at about 10 a.m. (could you check the time). It is very kind of you to suggest that they be met at the station. They will carry an English newspaper for identification.

The notion is that they will stay in Koln for all of Wednesday and Thursday. They may, on Thursday night, go to Amsterdam and they will probably spend Friday there.

What they are interested in is finding out about the question of storage space, the amount of data accumulated, computer requirements (Dr. Farlie is running the Computer Centre) etc. This is, as I said, in view of the possible establishment of the Archive at the University of Essex.

Once again thank you for your help. I hope to see you soon.
